Each week WSN will take a look at the happenings in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference, which includes many of the two-year campuses in the UW system. A look back at the big performances and news from the week before, a look ahead to some of the big games coming up, plus a Player of the Week will be featured.

Five WCC women's hoops games were held as part of a showcase at the JustAGame Fieldhouse and UW-Baraboo last weekend. Friday's games all ended in significant blowouts, including a 99-9 victory by Waukesha over Barrbon.

The only competitive game came on Saturday, when Marathon squeaked by Waukesha, 59-58 in an extremely interesting affair. Marathon claimed victory despite 26 turnovers, in large part to the 25-for-90 shooting performance by Waukesha, who had 30 offensive rebounds in the contest. Neither team had more than a three point advantage in any quarter, as Marathon held on for the win.

Fond du Lac scored a solid 72-65 victory over the Lakeland JV on Monday, with Cassidy Williams getting a game-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds.

There are just three women's basketball games in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference in the next week, two taking place this evening. 

Marinette puts the best record in the league on the line with a trip to Marathon tonight. Marathon played two games last week with just five players, and while they are very good and very competitive, Fond du Lac's depth (and talent) will pose plenty of problems.

Marshfield hasn't won a game this year and is coming off a 73-point loss to Fond du Lac, but the Buccaneers host Marinette this evening.

On Saturday, Marinette travels to Barron, who is struggling mightily this season.

Patience Pyan (Merrill High School) was a much-needed mid-season addition to the women's basketball team at UW-Marathon, where the team is down to just five regular contributors. The "Iron Five" played every minute both games last Friday and Saturday. In a 68-38 win over Washington, Pyan poured in a game-high 30 points. On Saturday, the Huskies snuck by Waukesha, 59-58, as Pyan again had a team-best 22 points to go with five rebounds and four steals.
