Badger Conference Girls Basketball Challenge wrap-up

The second annual Badger Conference Girls Basketball Challenge was held this past weekend at Madison Edgewood High School. 

The South won six of the eight games over the two days. I attended the six games on Saturday.

Top Performers

Ava Douglas, sr., Reedsburg -- The 5-foot-7 point guard scored a team-high 21 points and made a pair of 3-pointers in the Beavers' 81-70 loss to Monroe, ranked No. 8 in the Division 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll. 

Aleah Grundahl, sr., DeForest -- The UW-Whitewater recruit finished with 17 points in the Norskies' 62-55 loss to D2 No. 5 Monona Grove. 

Sydney Hilliard, sr., Monroe -- The Wisconsin recruit tallied 23 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and a block in the Cheesemakers' 81-70 win over Reedsburg. The 6-foot point guard shot 7-for-10 from the floor and went 9-for-9 from the free throw line. 

Teya Maas, soph., Watertown -- The 6-foot forward finished with 17 points to lead the Goslings to a 63-51 win over Waunakee. 

Tara Stauffacher, sr., Beaver Dam -- The Wisconsin recruit scored 14 points and scored her 1,000th career point in the Golden Beavers' 79-42 victory against D2 No. 9 Stoughton. 

Liz Uhl, jr., Oregon -- The 5-foot-8 guard finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a 74-49 win over Portage. Uhl shot 8 of 14 from the floor, including going 4-for-6 from behind the arc. 

McKenna Warnock, sr., Monona Grove -- The Iowa recruit scored a game-high 22 points in the Silver Eagles' 62-55 victory against DeForest. 

Maty Wilke, soph., Beaver Dam -- Wilke, a 5-foot-10 guard, finished with 12 points and went 2 of 4 from behind the arc in the win over Stoughton. Wisconsin head coach Jonathan Tsipis and coaches from Indiana, who the Badgers played on Sunday, were in attendance watching Wilke.
