R.J. Shelton #5·DB/RB Beaver Dam · 2009

Height 5' 11"
Weight 185
Grad Year 2013
Bio Shelton is the top running back in the Class of 2013 and could make it three straight years the in-state Badgers offer a high school ballcarrier, following the Kenosha Bradford duo of Melvin Gordon (2011) and Vonte Jackson (2012). Shelton has impressive athleticism, with an ability to change direction quickly but without losing speed. Once in the open field he displays a burst that makes it nearly impossible to catch him. He is versatile enough that he could also move to slotback or defensive back as well. Size may be his biggest obstacle to overcome as a BCS running back. He finished the season with 2048 rush yards (9.4 yards per carry) and 34 touchdowns as the Little Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Sports run in his blood; his father, Rodney Shelton, was a member of the Wisconsin football team in the early 1990's and his mother played basketball for the Badgers.
