The Bluejays finished second in the VFA-South, advanced to the state semi-finals, and Johnson was named a First Team All-Conference selection, but he hasn't received the publicity that some other quarterbacks on this list have. He deserves every bit of it however, as he was outstanding last season and has an impressive skill set. He threw for 1140 yards and 8 touchdowns, while rushing for 1339 yards and 14 scores for head coach Jeramie Korth. With very good size at 6-3, 200 pounds, he also has the speed and athletic ability to do damage on the ground. This summer he ran a 4.64 40-yard dash time and posted an overall SPARQ rating of 93.93. He was a high-flying force on the basketball team, leading the team in scoring and earning Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition with a number of highlight reel dunks. He also picked up Third Team All-Conference honors in baseball as a pitcher. Johnson is very calm in both demeanor and body movement in the pocket, trusting his teammates to give him time to make throws downfield. He has a good setup in the pocket, which allows him to put plenty of zip or touch on the ball as needed. |
