Franklin junior Joey Kallay has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of August 14-20 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 2,555 total votes this week. Kallay topped all vote getters with 1,164 votes. Burlington's Averi Larsen came in second with 566 votes.

Kallay put together a clutch performance as Franklin downed Catholic Memorial 31-24 in the Week 1 Kwik Trip & Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week. The junior quarterback completed 16 of 27 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns as the Sabres avenged a week one loss from last season to the Crusaders. With the game tied, Kallay led Franklin down the field late in the fourth quarter, culminating in a go-ahead, game-winning touchdown pass to Jacques Brooks with 17 seconds left in the game.

Kallay and Franklin will finish non-conference play this week, as the Sabers square off with Fond du Lac at home on Friday night.
