Week 2 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Fort Atkinson Blackhawks

Fort Atkinson faced off with old rival Jefferson for the 80th time in the programs' history, but it was the first meeting between the neighboring schools since 2007. It was a close one, but Fort Atkinson scored a 34-27 victory to take a 48-26-6 lead in the all-time series. The Blackhawk offense had a big day, including quarterback Rocco Foelker, who completed 20-of-24 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns with a perfect passer rating. Mason Dressler ran for 159 yards, while Lakyn Hintz had 159 receiving yards in the win.

Marquette Hilltoppers

Marquette opened the year with a close loss to Arrowhead, and got another tough test in Week 2 against perennial powerhouse Catholic Memorial. However, it turned out to be a rout, with Marquette putting a running clock on the Crusaders in the third quarter of a 35-0 victory. The offensive output wasn't overwhelming, with 271 total yards, but they made it count. Star junior kicker Erik Schmidt nailed field goals of 47 and 32 yards along the way as well.

Medford Raiders

Medford saw its season end in Level 2 of the playoffs last year in a 42-12 loss to Onalaska. Meeting up in Week 2 of this season, it was a much different story. The Raiders trounced Onalaska 52-35 despite allowing 313 passing yards and five touchdowns to Hilltoppers quarterback Adam Skifton. Charlie Gierl led a strong Medford rushing attack with 184 yards, averaging more than ten yards per carry.

Muskego Warriors

Muskego scored another impressive non-conference win in Week 2, downing Oak Creek 15-8. The Warriors scored early to take a 7-0 lead, but the teams slugged it out defensively for much of the game, as that remained the score into the fourth quarter. Oak Creek got on the board and converted the two-point play to take an 8-7 lead, but Ashton Krause rambled in from 48 yards out a short while later to secure the win. Muskego out-gained Oak Creek 327-161 in the game, including a 293-54 advantage on the ground.

North Fond du Lac Orioles

For the first time since August 19th, 2016, the North Fond du Lac varsity football tasted victory, ending what had been the state's longest active losing streak of 53 games by defeating Ripon 20-14 on Thursday night. The Orioles rallied from a 14-8 fourth quarter deficit, with Gavin Simon returning a fumble 65 yards for a game-winning touchdown with just over a minute remaining. Zach Seidschlag had a nice game throwing the football, completing 19-of-32 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
