UPDATE: The game has been moved to D.C. Everest High School.

We asked, you voted, and Somerset at Mosinee has been selected as the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week for Level 2 of the high school football playoffs. A total of 6,923 votes were cast, as this one received 2,340 of those votes.

The Kwik Trip & Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week allows you, the fans, to pick what you feel is the biggest high school football game in the state each week. Not only will that game get featured on WisSports.net, but our WSN staff will make it our destination that week, with updates, photos, videos, and stories from the big game.

And of course, no trip to a big game in Wisconsin would be complete without a stop or two at Kwik Trip and a chocolate milk!!

Mosinee won the Great Northern Conference title this year, though for the first time in four decades, the Indians drop down to Division 4.

After hammering Bloomer in Level 1, Mosinee faces off against Somerset, who went on the road to beat Oconto Falls 38-12.

Separated by 170 miles, you wouldn't think there'd be much connection between these programs. However, a closer look reveals a link that goes back three decades.

"Coach Hutter and I go way back! We were in the same incoming class (1994) on the football team at Winona State University," said Mosinee head coach Kyle Stoffel.

"It will be fun to reconnect with my college teammate," added Somerset's Joe Hutter. "He was a great teammate and an outstanding person."

After exchanging some niceties and maybe some stories before the game, you can bet the pleasantries will end, and both coaches will try to lead their team to Level 3, something Mosinee hasn't done since 2007, while Somerset has not been that deep in the playoffs since a 2014 state title.

"We had to play big games frequently this season just to earn our way into the playoffs," said Hutter. "So this is the next one. Mosinee is a great team and will be a great challenge for us Friday."

Hutter is looking for a common formula to advance in the postseason: run the football effectively and play good defense.

Mosinee not only won an outright Great Northern Conference title this season, the Indians gave up just three points in conference play.

"We have been playing well and are very confident going into Level 2," said Stoffel. "I hope to continue the balance we had have on offense all season. We've done a pretty good job taking advantage of what the defense is giving us. If we can get the ball in our athletes' hands in the right situations, we are tough to stop."
