Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 30 - November 5

Connor Hahm, Shoreland Lutheran

The Shoreland Lutheran boys soccer team captured its second state championship in program history in its second state appearance. That was in large part due to the fact that Hahm didn't let a single ball past him in two matches. Beginning the weekend, Hahm shut out Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran in the Division 4 semifinal matchup, recording five saves in the 1-0 win. The junior goalkeeper then had four saves in the 2-0 win over St. Mary Catholic in the Division 4 State Championship.

Aiden Hatleberg, Sugar River

Hatleberg accounted for all but one of the goals for the Sugar River co-op boys soccer team in its two state tournament matches. In the 3-0 win over Pius XI Catholic in the Division 3 state semis, the senior forward netted a pair of goals on six shots. Hatleberg then scored a hat trick and assisted on another in the 4-1 win over Plymouth in the Division 3 State Championship. Hatleberg tied the Division 3 state tournament record with five goals in the two contests and set the record for points in a tournament with 11. His performance led Sugar River to its first state championship in the co-op's existence.

Madison Quest, Divine Savior Holy Angels

DSHA is one of the top girls volleyball teams not just in the state, but the entire nation. Quest is one of the top players, evidence by her commitment to Wisconsin in just her junior season. All pun intended, the junior outside hitter was on a "quest" to re-capture gold this past weekend. In a 3-0 sweep of River Falls in the quarterfinals, she had 19 kills on 23 attempts, six digs, two aces and one block. She followed that with 18 kills on 31 attempts, four digs and four blocks in a 3-0 sweep of Sussex Hamilton in the Division 1 semifinals. Quest finished her junior season with 24 kills, 15 digs and five aces in a 3-2 thriller over Oconomowoc. Quest led DSHA to a repeat championship and the program's five overall title in twelve state appearances.

Jaelyn Stowe, Wonewoc-Center

The Wonewoc-Center girls volleyball program made its third straight state appearance, having fallen in the state semis the past two years. Stowe and company weren't about to let that happen again. The senior setter was brilliant through two matches. In a 3-2 win over Fall River in the Division 4 semis, she recorded 57 assists, nine digs, three kills, three blocks and two aces. Stowe then had 52 assists, 22 digs, two aces and a block and a kill in a 3-2 win over Newman Catholic in the Division 4 State Championship. Stowe's 109 assists in the two matches tied the Division 4 state tournament record as Wonewoc-Center captured its first state title in program history.

Brody Stuttgen, Middleton

Stuttgen was a huge assist to the Middleton boys volleyball squad capturing its first state championship in its fourteenth appearance. The senior setter set a state tournament record for assists in the tournament with 110, setting his teammates up all weekend. In the 3-0 quarterfinal sweep of Union Grove, Stuttgen had 28 assists, six digs, four aces and three kills. He followed that up with 29 assists, seven digs, a kill and a block in a 3-0 sweep of Kimberly in the semifinals. Stuttgen finished his tournament off with 53 assists, eight digs, two kills and a block and an ace in the 3-2 winner over Arrowhead in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship.
