I got my start in sports: playing tee-ball when I was in kindergarten. I also competed in youth soccer, basketball and track and field.

I wish I could play: golf.

Baseball highlights: four-time letterwinner and four-year starter … batted lead-off and started in center field as a senior and also started at pitcher … team co-Most Valuable Player and Gold Glove winner … co-captain as a junior and senior … three-time all-North Shore Conference and all-district performer ... as a junior, batted .427 with a team-best 14 doubles and five triples, 35 runs scored, 26 stolen bases and 35 RBI ... as a sophomore, led team in hits (48), triples (five), home runs (three), RBI (39) and runs scored (36) ... batted .403 and was named Team Offensive MVP.

2009 stats: batted .486 (36-for-74) with 24 runs scored, 11 doubles, six triples, two home runs, 26 RBI and 9-of-10 stolen bases … drew 21 walks and two hit by pitches … .recorded .608 on-base percentage and .878 slugging percentage … pitching stats: nine appearances, three games started, including two complete games, covering 25 1/3 innings … 2-1 record with two saves and 3.59 ERA … ratio of 32 strikeouts to 14 walks.

2009 team stats: Finished 27-11 overall, 11-7 in North Shore Conference (third place) … lost in WIAA Summer State sectional finals

Other sports highlights: three-time letterwinner and three-year starter in basketball as a shooting guard … co-captain and Duke Pride award winner (for leadership, team work and dedication) as a junior and senior.

This and that: member of High Honor Roll for four years … U.S. Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete award winner … North Shore Conference Scholar-Athlete Award Winner … recipient of 2009 Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association scholarship … volunteer work includes rec. department youth camps and coaching at Bigler Baseball camps.

Baseball superstitions: Depending on which dugout we are in, I always touch first base or third base on and off the field. I also tie my left shoe laces tighter.

Post-high school plans: attend Notre Dame on scholarship to study business and play baseball.

Career goal: play pro baseball

Outlook on life: "Remember there is always someone out there working harder than you. Play hard and have fun."

 

Did you know? Charlie was drafted in the 2009 First-Year Player Agent by Detroit in the 44th round. He played in the WBCA All-Star Classic June 26-27 in Oshkosh and played two years in the Milwaukee Brewers Classic baseball tournament at Miller Park.
