Divisions 2 through 4 saw second round action get  under way last night, while in Division 1 it was opening night of the 2009 WIAA spring baseball playoffs.

The following were first-round upsets in Division 1 (not counting 4 vs. 5 mathups that are a coin flip usually):

6 Fort Atkinson over 3 Janesville Parker

6 Lakeland over 3 Antigo

After a handful of 6 over 3 upsets in round one of D2-D4 action, there really weren't many surprises in round two.  In fact, none of those 6 seeds that pulled off first round upsets were able to continue that momentum with a second round win.  There were, however, a few top-seeded teams that got knocked off:

D2

4 Somerset over 1 Barron

4 Racine Lutheran over 1 Jefferson

4 Wautoma over 1 Mauston

D3

none

D4

4 Frederic over 1 Shell Lake

Colby won a pitcher's duel 2-1 over Stratford, to advance to a regional final versus Marathon.  The Raiders from Marathon, the defending Division 3 state champs, cruised to a 12-2 win over Edgar to advance.  Marshfield was one of the aforementioned six seeds to pick up wins over a three seed, as they won a sloppy 5-4 decision over Merrill that saw both teams commit seven errors.
