The first round of the Divisions 2 through 4 playoffs have come and gone (although there's still a couple scores not yet reported oddly enough).  There were some drama-filled games, some upsets, some big run totals, and even a no-hitter.

The following were first-round upsets (not counting 4 vs. 5 mathups that are a coin flip usually):

Division 2:

6 Amery over 3 Saint Croix Falls (this game also featured a no-hitter from Kurt Gehrman as Amery won 1-0)

6 Mishicot over 3 Luxemburg-Casco

Division 3:

6 Reedsville over 3 Roncalli

6 Eau Claire Regis over 3 Cameron

6 Wayland Academy over 3 Brookfield Academy

6 Cambridge over 3 Waterloo

Division 4:

Poynette won in extra innings in walk-off fashion, but not the kind you'd usually expect.  Junior Spud Latour was plunked on the shoulder with the bases loaded and two outs to give the Indians the win.  Meanwhile, Wrightstown won on a throwing error by Freedom with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.  Oakfield picked up a walk-off win on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to edge MarkesanAlmond-Bancroft's Brant Bickford drew a bases loaded walk-off walk in the eighth as the Eagles downed Princeton.

Gibraltar had two pitchers combine for a one-hitter in their 9-1 win over Lena/St. ThomasReedsville got momentum heading into the playoffs with a win over Olympian Conference co-champ St. Mary Central on Tuesday, and carried that through with an 11-5 victory over Roncalli on Friday.  Spooner had to figure out how to hit a knuckleball against Webster/Siren, but ended up pulling away for a run-rule victory.

The Marshfield News-Herald has a wrap-up of area games.  The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram does for their area as well.  The Leader-Telegram also has a playoff preview available.

Don't forget summer baseball has started to "Play Ball!" as well.  Players and coaches, send us your rosters and schedules as soon as possible for display on our site.
