Girls soccer has become the 14th sport to be included on WisSports.net, broadening coverage for the increasingly popular sport to a larger statewide audience. In just over a week since the "soft" launch, girls soccer pages have been viewed over 22,500 times.

Just as with the other sports covered by WSN, there will be a wealth of information available on the girls soccer site. Schedules, rosters, scores, standings, and stats are all part of the basic information available, and content including articles and stories will be delivered via an exciting new partnership.

A big part of the successful launch of girls soccer has been a partnership between WSN and Wisconsin Soccer Central (WSC). Eric Anderson, publisher and executive editor at WSC, is a longtime soccer enthusiast and bringing WSC on-board was a win-win for both companies.

"Wisconsin Soccer Central started in 2003 with the goal to promote the beautiful game across the state," Anderson said. "While we still have a long way to go, we're pleased with what we've done so far. Now we're taking another step forward, partnering with the Wisconsin Sports Network."

WSN president and founder Nicholas Kartos agrees.

"Ever since we expanded beyond football and basketball a few years back, the one question I got more than any other was, 'When are you going to add soccer?' " Kartos said. "Well the time has come, we have found a great partner in WSC and we will be working hard to forge a relationship with the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association and soccer coaches statewide."

With the support and involvement of the WSN staff, Eric Anderson from WSC, and a great many coaches, schedule information has been entered for nearly every team in the state. Scores have poured in over the past week, and can be found on the Scoreboard page. To find team schedules, rosters, and more, visit the Teams page and click on the appropriate school.

Support from soccer coaches has been outstanding, and many have already contacted us to set up free accounts to update their team's information (rosters, schedules, scores, stats) directly on our site. If you are a coach interested in maintaining accurate information for your team, please use the Contact Us option and be sure to include your name, school, and sport when requesting an account.

Plans are already in the works to add boys soccer for the fall sports season as well, bringing the total number of sports on WSN to 15.
