Name:
Cody Odegaard

Football Honors: Four-year varsity player for the Pumas ... A member of three teams at Poynette that advanced to the WIAA playoffs … A multi-talented football player who played defensive back and quarterback while also handling the kicking and punting duties … First-team all-Capitol Conference selection at defensive back as a senior after earning second-team honors as a junior … Honorable mention all-league quarterback in each of the past two seasons … Completed 66 of 147 pass attempts for 962 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior while helping Poynette to a 7-3 record.

Basketball Honors: A four-year varsity player for the Pumas … Earned second-team all-league honors in the Capitol Conference as a freshman and first-team all-conference recognition in each of the past two seasons … A versatile player who can play either guard spot or small forward … Expected to earn first-team all-league honors as a senior as well as he led the league in scoring at 23.8 points per game.

Baseball Honors: Played varsity baseball for the first time as a junior … Once again displayed great versatility as he saw action as a catcher, pitcher and outfielder for the Pumas.

Track Honors: Competed in track and field as a freshman and sophomore … Took part in the 400-meter dash, the long jump and several relay teams on the varsity level.

Favorite Sport: “Definitely basketball. I’ve grown up with the game. My dad pretty much brought me up on the basketball court.”

Best Part of High School Sports: “The best part of high school sports are the rivalries against other schools and how close you become with some of the other players you compete against. I’m very close with Dante (Kuehl) of Luther Prep because we play on the same AAU team, and I got the chance to play against him twice each season so that is a lot of fun.”

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: “My most memorable moment was breaking the school scoring record and scoring more than 1,000 points in basketball.”

Best Advice Received from High School Coach: “The one thing I remember the most this year came from coach Jerry Pritzl. He told us to get over what happened in the past and to keep looking into the future. He said you can’t change the past so keep looking ahead.”

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: “The best part is it gives you more variety. You are not doing the same sport over and over and over. It also gives you some new kids to talk to each season.”

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: “The toughest part is getting used to a new sport. Basketball is a long season and it ends kind of quickly and then you have to pick up a baseball and it takes some time to adjust to the new sport.”

Favorite College Team: Wisconsin Badgers.

Favorite Professional Team: Green Bay Packers.
