West Bend's Lynn LaPorte Sprawl is often used as a gauge for the state's top teams to see where they fit in the mix. With just three weeks until the WIAA regionals kick off, the field of some of the most elite Division 1 and Division 2 programs got to strut their stuff Friday and Saturday. The results from that tourment undoubedly affected the Week 5 rankings, as there were some major shifts in Division 1.

Most notably, Menomonee Falls, which had been No. 1 since the first poll in late August, fell one spot to No. 2 this week. Defending D1 state runner-up Kaukauna assumed the top position, rising three spots after a second-place finish in West Bend. Burlington, last week's No. 2, finished fourth but fell four spots to No. 6 this week. Fond du Lac has been steadily creeping up the Division 1 poll as well, up two spots for the second straight week to No. 4. Neenah tumbled from a No. 9 ranking last week out of the ranking altogether, and was replaced by newcomers Kenosha Tremper and Madison La Follette, who enter tied at No. 10.

The Week 5 poll looks much the same in Division 2, as Catholic Memorial failed to drop a single set en route to the Sprawl championship. Kettle Moraine Lutheran remained at No. 2, but Luxemburg-Casco and Madison Edgewood flipped spots at No. 3 and No. 4 this week. Denmark moved up two positions to No. 7 while Waupun, Notre Dame and newcomer New Berlin Eisenhower clung to a three-way tie for No. 10 this week.

Division 3 still has four undefeated teams left, and they appropriately finished in the top four positions this week as No. 1 Grantsburg (16-0), No. 2 Racine St. Catherine's (19-0), No. 3 Oostburg (17-0) and No. 4 Regis (18-0) all have yet to drop a match this season. Laconia is fresh off a championship at the Wrightstown Invite Saturday and rose one spot to No. 7, while Marawood South frontrunner Auburndale debuted this week at No. 9.

Instability is the theme in Division 4 this season, as teams continue to jostle for poll position in the closing weeks of the season. Highland once again remained No. 1, but McDonell passed Catholic Central for the No. 2 slot this week. Southwestern and Hillsboro each rose four spots this week to No. 4 and No. 5, while Cambria-Friesland finally broke into the top 10 at No. 8. Tigerton also debuted this week tied at No. 10 with Valley Christian.
