WisSports.net Week 2 Player of the Week Nominees:

Blake Bodenstein, Highland -- For the second week in a row, Bodenstein engineered a come from behind victory with a game-winning drive in the final minutes of the game. Last week he helped the Cardinals defeat Shullsburg 12-7, and this week he rallied the team from a 21-12 deficit to start the fourth quarter to beat Black Hawk 27-21. The quarterback did much of the damage with his legs, accounting for four rushing touchdowns, including a 35-yard scamper to put the team ahead for good. While he completed just 4 of 14 passes for 73 yards, his 102 rushing yards and those 4 touchdowns more than made up for it. He also accounted for 4 tackles and forced a fumble on defense.

Brett Kasper, Two Rivers -- Kasper was a tight end last year as the team featured an outstanding quarterback in Shawn Shillcox, but moved over to the signal-caller position this year. Against Campbellsport in a 56-12 Week 2 victory, he put on a display for the record books. Kasper completed 31 of 37 passes for 367 yards with 7 touchdowns. As if that wasn't enough, he was also the leading rusher with 54 yards and added another score on the ground to give him 8 total touchdowns accounted for in the game. He broke school records for passing yards, completions, total yards, and touchdowns. His 7 passing touchdowns tied a state record held by four other players. Seven of the eight touchdowns came in the first half of the game.

Alex Katz, Roncalli -- It appeared the Jets may pull away from Kewaunee on Friday as helped by three Katz touchdowns, the team opened a 27-0 lead in the second quarter. Kewaunee came back strong however, scoring 30 unanswered points to eventually take a 30-27 lead in the fourth quarter. With just five seconds left in the game, Katz hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Slattery and the Jets claimed a 34-30 victory. For the game Katz rushed 16 times for 56 yards with 2 touchdowns and caught 4 passes for 129 yards and two more scores.

Sean McGuire, Franklin -- The Sabers dropped their opening game to Sussex Hamilton and faced rival and defending Division 1 champion Kenosha Bradford in Week 2. Before a packed house, the team's battled back and forth, with Franklin tying the score with 5 minutes left on a 3-yard touchdown run by McGuire. Franklin got the ball first, but went backwards on a pair of false start penalties. Facing a 3rd and 20, McGuire lofted a perfect pass into the hands of receiver Bryan Oates for a touchdown. The defense held and Franklin got an early leg up in the Southeast Conference race. McGuire completed 12 of 23 passes for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding 30 yards and a score on the ground as well.

Christian Moore, Royall -- The Panthers have not made the playoffs since 2002 and have won just eight conference games since that time, including going 0-7 last season. Friday night they took on a Cashton team that qualified for the postseason last year and was expected to challenge at the top of the Scenic Bluffs with a number of returning players. Moore and the Panthers responded with one of the most impressive victories of the weekend, shutting out the Eagles 36-0. Moore rushed 20 times for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns and also caught 2 passes for 72 yards and another score as the team moved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
