Athlete of the Week Nominees for September 17-23

Below are the nominees for the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of September 17-23. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Sam Terry, Baraboo girls volleyball. Terry recorded her 1,000th career kill on Tuesday night in the T-Birds win over Mount Horeb. She is the first Baraboo player to reach the milestone.

Chandler Diffee, Madison La Follette boys cross country. Diffee finished first in the 75th annual Midwest Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Janesville. He ran the 5k in 15:35 and helped the Lancers to the team title.

Tara Matter, Spencer girls volleyball. Matter led Spencer to the Bud Nelson Invite Championship in Abbotsford on Saturday. She collected 57 kills for the Rockets who went 7-0 on the day.

Lianna Hawi, Lourdes Academy girls tennis. Hawi won the No. 1 singles championship and helped the Knights to a share of the Wisconsin Combined Tennis Conference tournament title on Saturday in Appleton.

Kaitlin Heinen, Superior girls swimming. Heinen set a new team record in the 100 backstroke on Thursday night. Heinen set the record with a time of 1:02.18, the previous of 1:03.17 was set by Leah Smith in 1994.
