Athlete of the Week Nominees for October 1-7

Below are the nominees for the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of October 1-7. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Greg Borsari, Milwaukee Pius boys soccer. Bosari scored two goals and assisted on two more as the Popes beat Greenfield to clinch the Woodland title on Saturday.

Julia Lawinger, Platteville girls volleyball. Lawinger led the Lady Hillmen to straight-set match wins over Prairie du Chien and Richland Center last week. She collected 42 kills, 22 blocks and 16 digs in the two match wins. 

Lindsay Krueger, Merrill girls volleyball. Krueger led the Bluejays with 32 assists and 27 service points in a 3-2 victory over Marshfield on Thursday. The win gave Merrill sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Tyler Korth, Menasha football. Korth scored three rushing touchdowns in the Bluejays upset over previously unbeaten Marshfield on Friday night. He finished with 42 yards on eight carries and was four of seven passing for 64 yards. 

Seth Maertz, Xavier boys soccer. Maertz scored the go-ahead goal in the Hawks victory over Slinger on Saturday to run Xavier's winning streak to 11 heading into the WIAA playoffs.
