The Wisconsin Track Coaches Association is proud to announce the members of Team Wisconsin for the 15th annual Midwest Senior Spotlight Track & Field Meet, to be held Saturday, June 8, at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.

Around 70 athletes will participate for Team Wisconsin against Team Illinois and Team Iowa in one final sendoff competition, pitting the best seniors from each state in more than 20 events. A Team Wisconsin roster is attached below.

The Senior Spotlight Meet was a brainchild of John Nalley from Illinois, who wanted to give prep track and field seniors from the around Midwest an opportunity to compete on the same stage. Nalley and Iowa's Dick Washburn brought the concept to fruition, and Illinois and Iowa competed in the inaugural Spotlight Meet in 1999. Wisconsin made its Spotlight debut in 2000. Nebraska and South Dakota have also sent contingents, and other Midwestern states have had discussions about participating. The stalwart teams from Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois have enjoyed a healthy rivalry over the years.

The first two Spotlight Meets were held at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, with the next eight competitions taking place at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Team Wisconsin then hosted three in a row at UW-Platteville before Team Illinois hosted for the first time at USF in 2012.

The events are similar to those used during the Wisconsin high school season, except for 400m Intermediate Hurdles are run in place of 300m hurdles. The Spotlight Meet also includes a Distance Medley Relay and a Shuttle Hurdle Relay.

Medals are given out to first, second and third places, and an Outstanding Athlete from each state, for each boys and girls, is selected at the conclusion of the meet. No team scores are kept.

Results will be available upon the conclusion of the meet at www.accuracetiming.com.

The Team Wisconsin lineup is determined by selections made by a coaching staff comprised of a number of event coordinators. Athletes are considered for selection based on performances throughout the year that rank on the State Honor Roll, along with WIAA tournament performances.

Due to the short time frame between the WIAA state meet and the Spotlight Meet, there may be a handful of additional athletes added to the Team Wisconsin roster in the final day before competition, but the current roster is below.
