WisSports.net Week 2 Player of the Week Nominees:

Will Daniels, Green Bay Preble -- Daniels is one of the most versatile players in the state, and Friday's 38-7 win over Pulaski was a perfect showcase for his varied talents. He scored the first points of the game on a 70-yard punt return, added a 4-yard TD run a short time later, and threw a 52-yard touchdown all before halftime. He added two more touchdown runs in the second half to finish with 130 yards and 3 scores on 12 carries, while completing 6 of 9 passes for 115 yards and 1 TD. As if that wasn't enough, he played an outstanding game from his safety position on defense, shadowing Pulaski quarterback Logan Syzmanski in the Raiders' option offense and helping keep him in check.

Noah Diaz, Sun Prairie -- The Cardinals needed someone to step up in the running game as teams had begun to focus on shutting down quarterback Ryan Curran and the passing game early in the year. Diaz proved to be just that guy, and it came an opportune time. In a battle with Big Eight nemesis Verona, the junior back stepped to the forefront, carrying the ball 22 times for 243 yards and 1 touchdown. That score came on a 90-yard run in the first quarter, and the Cardinals went on to win it 23-20 on a 36-yard field goal from senior Dustin Wunderlin.

Matt Ferris, Xavier -- Xavier missed the playoffs last year but took a big step towards not only putting themselves in position for the postseason, but also the Eastern Valley Conference title race on Friday. The Hawks dominated Little Chute, reeling off 47 straight points after the Mustangs went up 7-0. Ferris completed 22 of 30 passes for 378 yards and 6 touchdowns in the victory. It was just a week after he threw for 342 yards and 5 scores in a win over Clintonville.

Nate Jenson, Waupaca -- In another match-up of top Eastern Valley Conference teams, Jenson made several big plays for the Comets as they took down Freedom 27-18. He threw a pair of first quarter touchdowns as Waupaca went up 13-0 early on. Freedom came back and had got the score to 20-18 early in the 4th quarter, but Jenson led the Comets on a 7-minute, 76-yard drive that he capped with a 1-yard scoring plunge. He also hit Brando Vasquez for an 11-yard pickup on a key 4th and 4 play during the drive. He finished 15 of 23 for 178 yards and 3 scores through the air, plus 26 carries for 55 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.

Austin Larson, Dodgeville -- Dodgeville put the rest of the SWC on notice that they will be a contender this year, rallying to defeat Platteville 48-45. Trailing 38-20 late in the 3rd quarter, and 45-35 with just over 4 minutes to go in the game, quarterback Austin Larson twice brought the Dodgers back for the win. He completed 13 of 28 passes for 420 yards and 4 touchdowns. Larson also added a pair of rushing scores. His four TD's through the air covered 76, 72, 42, and 82 yards respectively. With his team down 45-35 with under 5 minutes left, he threw an 82-yard score to Logan Yeager, then scored the game-winning points on a 16-yard scramble with 2:23 left.
