Marlin Lee III, former Football Editor and Recruiting Writer for WisSports.net, passed away last year after a two-year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. We join his family in asking you to participate in a remembrance event on Sunday, September 22nd on the one-year anniversary of his passing.

At 5:22 pm on Sunday the family asks you to release a balloon from wherever you live in Marlin's memory.

To read more about Marlin's life and his battle with cancer, please see our remembrance article here. WSN founder Nicholas Kartos wrote a moving article on Marlin's life and his experiences here at WSN as well.

From Hiedee Lee, Marlin's wife:

I really want to hear all of the memories about Marlin and get them written down so that I can share them with the kids when they get older so they know who he was.
Marlin and I were together 5.5 years and we knew each other very well but there are so many things that I still did not know about him. Please help me to get to know my husband better with all of the randomness that he was known for and help me teach the kids more about him!!!

For those of you that are not in the area and want to join us in this balloon release, I welcome you to do so and to take pictures. I know there was some talk about trying to get some of the Wisconsin people together at the Lancaster football field to do one and I would LOVE to see the pictures!!!! Please share this invite with EVERYONE you know that Marlin had touched in his short life because I know there were a ton of people. I would also LOVE to me emailed or messaged or even texted video of your memories of Marlin!

Also, for those of you from WSN and Bisonville, can you please spread the word there as well and also any other media outlets that Marlin was a part of please. Also, please SHARE SHARE SHARE with your friends!!!! There were so many that still message me checking on me and the kids. I know that there were so many that were upset when they were not able to make it to his funeral and I hope that for those of you that were not able to make it this year you will make sure to join us in this and take pictures so the kids will be able to look back and see just how loved Marlin was and still is!!!!
