The Brookfield Central Lancers have been selected as the Week 7 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. The team saw a big 4th quarter lead turn into a deficit but rallied to knock off Marquette and gain a tie atop the Greater Metro. The Lancers were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 7. A total of 10567 votes were cast, as Brookfield Central's 3758 votes narrowly edged out the 3693 of Wilmot, a margin of less than 1%.

All seemed to be in hand for the Lancers heading into the fourth quarter of Friday's game against Marquette. They led 35-10 heading into the final period as they were all set to hand the Hilltoppers their first conference loss and pull into a tie atop the league standings. Then Charlie Greif threw four touchdown passes in 9 minutes as Marquette went up 38-35 with less than two minutes to play. Brookfield Central did not panic nor hang their heads, instead engineering a 74-yard scoring march as Riley Richarz connected with Matt Liewen for a long pass then found Terry Wallen for the 28-yard game-winner with 24 seconds left as Central pulled out a 42-38 victory.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 8 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
