Athlete of the Week Nominees, January 20-26

Below are the Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of January 20 through 26. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Maya Jonas, Whitefish Bay girls basketball, finished with 27 points, 22 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists, and 3 blocks in the Blue Dukes 71-70 overtime win over Germantown who entered the game undefeated in the North Shore on Friday. Jonas scored 15 points in a 61-27 victory over South Milwaukee on Saturday. 

Aaron Miller, Superior boys hockey, finished with a goal and an assist in the Spartans 3-2 win over No. 2 Wausau West on Friday. His goal tied the game at 2 in the second period and he had the game-winning assist in overtime. Miller recorded a hat trick in their 4-1 victory over Stevens Point and also found the net once in their 3-0 win over Marquette on Sunday. 

Elizabeth Norregaard, Middleton girls basketball, scored 32 points in the Cardinals 62-36 victory over Janesville Parker on Friday. Norregaard finished with 6 three-pointers in the win. 

Billy Wampler, Regis boys basketball, is averaging 36.7 points per game in his last four games. Last week he scored 32 points in a 66-62 win over Altoona and totaled 29 points in the Ramblers 62-28 victory against Fall Creek. 

Cameron Ward, Marshall boys basketball, scored a school-record 46 points in the Cardinals 78-48 win against Belleville on Tuesday. He also surpassed 2,000 career points in the game. On Friday, Ward finished with 44 points in Marshall’s 84-61 win against Wisconsin Heights.
