Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Wing Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards -- Wing FInalists

Linley Achtenhagen, Kettle Moraine -- Achtenhagen averaged 17.5 points per game this season for the Lasers. She notched a career-high 31 points in a win over Milton in early February .

Maya Jonas, Whitefish Bay -- Jonas is a long and athletic wing that averaged 14.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.8 assits, 2.4 steals, and 3.3 blocks per game for the Blue Dukes. The Northwestern recruit was lost for the season when she re-tore her ACL in a contest against Kettle Moraine late in the season. 

Maddy Reed, Lourdes Academy -- Reed plays with a high motor and can score both off the dribble and from behind the arc. She averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 3.9 steals per contest for the Knights. 

Tamya Sims, Oak Creek -- Sims is a very athletic wing that excels off the dribble. The Bradley recruit averages a team-high 15.5 points per game for the Knights. She scored a season-high 23 points in a win over Kenosha Tremper in early February. 

Kelly Smith, Arrowhead -- Smith is a strong wing that can get to the hoop and also knock down a jumper. The Northern Illinois recruit is averaging 15.3 points per game for the Warhawks and scored a season-high 30 points in a victory over Mukwaongo in late January.
