Black Hawk's Jen Wellnitz has been selected as the top senior Defensive player as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards.
Wellnitz is a very quick and athletic wing that has wreaked havoc on opposing offenses for four years on the Black Hawk varsity. She averages over 6 steals per game for the Warriors.
The Green Bay recruit has an excellent all-around game, as she also averages 23.8 points, 8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per contest.
Finalists for the award were Wellnitz, Assumption's Brittney Birkhauser, Kimberly's Dana McMorrow, New London's Mickey Roland, and Baldwin-Woodville's Michaela Slind.
Past winners of the award include Emily Gustafson of South Shore (2013) and Alexis Lindstrom of Howards Grove (2012).
