Oak Creek's hot shooting leads them past Superior to claim Division 1 title

Oak Creek shot lights out and cruised to a 73-52 victory over Superior to win the Division 1 state championship at the Resch Center in Green Bay. 

The Knights opened the game up 16-4 with 4:20 left in the first before Superior answered to close the first quarter down just 4. Oak Creek held a 9 points halftime lead at 36-27. 

Oak Creek outscored Superior 20-12 in the third quarter and led by as many as 22 in the fourth quarter to take home the gold ball in Division 1. 

The Knights shot an incredible 67.6 percent from the floor. They went 9-for-15 from behind the arc (60%), and connected on 14 of their 16 free throw attemps. 

Oak Creek was very unselfish in the game and were able to find the open player, finishing with 17 assists in the contest. 

Senior Stephanie Kostowicz led the team with 19 points and 7 rebounds. The Milwaukee recruit shot 8-for-9 from the floor and made both of her free throw attempts. 

Fellow senior Tamya Sims, a Bradley recruit, scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and tallied 3 blocks in the victory. Another senior, Katie Finn finished with 15 points and went 3-for-3 from three-point land. 

Sophomore Katie Settingsgaard contributed 9 points, making 3 straight triples late in the third quarter. Older sister Hannah Settingsgaard, a junior, finished with 7 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals, while junior Jenna Santi added 5 points and 7 assists in the contest. 

Superior was led by senior and Green Bay recruit Jessica Lindstrom who finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 assists. 

Fellow senior Hailey Kontny, a Minnesota-Duluth recruit, scored 16 points for the Spartans. 

This is Oak Creek's first state title in school history, they made four previous trips and fnished at the runner up in 1983.
