Week 3 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Week 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll
Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Once again, Kimberly received all but one #1 vote in the Division 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll, as the Papermakers are easily ahead of #2 Germantown. Former #3 Hudson's loss to Superior dropped the Raiders to #9 (and brought Superior into the rankings at #8), allowing Fond du Lac to move to #3, ahead of Arrowhead. Neenah is undefeated and comes into the poll this week, while Kenosha Indian Trail's 35-20 win over former #6 Oak Creek allowed the Hawks to sneak in at #10.

Division 2

There was little change at the top of the Division 2 Coaches Poll, with Homestead holding onto a tight grip to the #1 spot, followed by Waukesha West, Greendale, Ashwaubenon, and Waunakee in the top five. Whitefish Bay was the only ranked team to lose, going down to Germantown, and the Blue Dukes slide from #7 to #10.

Division 3

Division 3 is the only division to feature all undefeated teams here in Week 3, and the voting towards the top of the poll was very close. However, once again, Wisconsin Lutheran narrowly held onto the top spot over Catholic Memorial and West De Pere. La Crosse Logan (#8) and Mosinee (#10) are new to this week's poll, and several other unbeaten teams are just outside the rankings.

Division 4

Somerset continues to be ranked #1 in the D4 poll, but Brodhead/Juda continues to garner more and more support for the top spot. After losses by former #3 Lodi and #4 Little Chute, we have a new top five. After Somerset and Brodhead/Juda, rounding out the top five are Marshall, Columbus, and Freedom, fresh off a dominating 43-6 win over Eastern Valley power Waupaca. Unbeaten Campbellsport and one-loss Wautoma, who just took down Lodi, are new to this week's poll.

Division 5

While Stanley-Boyd is still a strong #1 in the voting for the Division 5 Coaches Poll, Lancaster's loss to Arcadia last week drops the Flying Arrows from 2nd to 5th, as Amherst, Arcadia, and Kewaunee all move up one spot. The other big news is the entry of Chetek-Weyerhaueser to the poll after the Bulldog's 3-0 start.

Division 6

Shiocton is still the #1 team in the WisSports.net Division 6 Coaches Poll, but some dominating performances by #2 Saint Mary's Springs have closed that gap a bit. Edgar and Athens flip-flopped in the #3 and #4 spots this week, while Hurley is again #5. Cuba City jumps up from #8 to #6, just ahead of SWAL rival Darlington. Regis re-enters the poll at #10, as Iola-Scandinavia drops out.

Division 7

If we've learned one thing from the poll this season it's that there isn't a great consensus on just who the top teams in the division are in 2014. Owen-Withee is still at the top, but it's certainly not a dominating margin. Black Hawk is second, while Pepin/Alma jumps up from #6 to #3, followed by Ithaca and Almond-Bancroft, who dropped from #3 to #5 after a tight win over Rio. None of the top six teams in the ranking lost last week, but there was still plenty of movement and no clear "best of the best" at the top of the division. Clear Lake and Abbotsford are 3-0 on the young season and enter the rankings this week.

8-Man Football

Green Bay NEW Lutheran keeps chugging along as the top team in the 8-Man Football Coaches Poll, but Gibraltar (now #2) and Prairie Farm (now #3) have switched spots behind them. There are six unbeaten teams left in 8-Man Football, and after that top six group, there wasn't a clear pecking order, at least in the voting. Bowler/Gresham, who is new to the rankings this week, enters at the #7 spot.
