WIAC Athletes of the Week
(Week of Sept. 29 - Oct. 5)

FOOTBALL
Offense
Jake Kumerow, Senior (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin), Wide Receiver of UW-Whitewater
Kumerow recorded a season-high 10 receptions for 143 yards and a career-best tying three touchdowns to help the No. 1-ranked Warhawks defeat UW-La Crosse 38-7 on Oct. 4 at Perkins Stadium.  He caught touchdown passes of four-, three- and 17-yards in the second, third and fourth quarters, respectively.  It was Kumerow’s second multiple-touchdown game of the season and third straight contest with at least nine receptions.

Zach Vallafskey, Senior (Hortonville, Wis.), Defensive Back of UW-Stevens Point
Vallafskey recorded two fourth quarter interceptions as No. 17-ranked UW-Stevens Point defeated host UW-River Falls 17-14 in its conference opener on Oct. 4.  His second interception of the game came at his own four-yard line with one second remaining to seal the win.  He also intercepted a pass with 2:28 remaining with UW-River Falls in Pointer territory.  Vallafskey also had nine tackles in the game, including eight solo stops.

Ash blocked a punt that teammate Levi Kossow returned for a touchdown during UW-Oshkosh’s 32-7 victory over UW-Stout on Oct. 4.  He recorded his blocked punt early in the second quarter. Kossow scooped up the loose ball and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown.  The score gave the Titans a 9-0 lead.
