The Bay Port Pirates have been selected as the Week 7 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team defeated fellow unbeaten Ashwaubenon to claim the outright lead in the FRCC. The Pirates were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 7. A total of 2,965 votes were cast, as Bay Port's 1037 votes edged Madison East's 607.

In a game between unbeaten teams and Division 1 quarterbacks, there was a ton potentially on the line:  FRCC title, #1 seed in playoffs, Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-State, WFCA Offensive Player of the Year. And it was Bay Port and quarterback Alec Ingold that came out on top of Ashwaubenon and James Morgan, 21-13. The Pirates opened up a 21-0 lead early in the 4th quarter, as Ingold scored on an 18-yard touchdown and Kolton Huff added a pair of short scoring runs. The defense took it from there, allowing a couple Jaguars scores but holding Morgan in check and shutting down the running game.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 8 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
