Brad Burling of Burlington has been selected as the Week 8 Air National Guard Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. He came up big as the Demons claimed a 4-overtime win over Wilmot. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 8. A total of 3106 votes were cast, as Burling's 1422 were enough to edge second place Justin Oliden of South Milwaukee, who tallied 859.

48 minutes wasn't enough to decide who of Burlington and Wilmot would take over sole possession of first place in the Southern Lakes Conference, so the teams headed to not one overtime, but four. In the fourth overtime, quarterback Brad Burling found Hunter Melby for a 25-yard score to give the Demons a 42-35 victory. Burling finished the game with 256 yards and 5 touchdowns on 21 of 31 passing, adding 99 yards on the ground as well.

Burlington can clinch an outright Southern Lakes title with a win against Elkhorn this week.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Air National Guard Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 9 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
