Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list previously was trimmed to 15 semi-finalists, and now five finalists for the award have been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

Senior Boys Basketball Awards -- Defense Finalists

Zack Baun, Brown Deer -- The rugged University of Wisconsin football recruit never gives up on a play or a lose ball. His physical strength and mental toughness are both huge intangibles to the success of the Brown Deer program. Baun's stellar play helped the Falcons to the title in the Eastern Division of the Woodland Conference and will be huge in sectional play as Brown Deer sets out to defend its WIAA Division 3 state championship. Baun leads Brown Deer in rebounding at 6.5 rpg.

Levi Bradley, Pius XI -- The Player of the Year in the Western Division of the Woodland Conference, Bradley uses his long 6-foot-7 frame to make things difficult for opponents around the basket. The Northern Illinois recruit can get into passing lanes, disrupt drives to the basket and block shots at the rim. Bradley is also a very good offensive player -- he led the Woodland Conference in scoring at 21.9 ppg -- and has a bright future as he continues to add weight and strength.

Diamantae Freeman, Milwaukee King -- One of the glue players on one of the best high school teams in the state, Freeman does a lot of the little things to help the Generals beat back all challengers. He is a solid defender with good length and anticipation. He also moves the ball well on offense and gets on the glass on both ends of the court. At 6-foot-5 and with excellent length, Freeman gives coach Jim Gosz a lot of versatility due to his ability to guard multiple positions.

Dwayne Lawhorn Jr., Germantown -- A stellar all-around athlete at Germantown, Lawhorn is a capable scorer (8.9 ppg) but his real value to coach Steve Showalter's lineup is his defense and toughness. The 6-foot-4 forward has the physical strength to guard players in the post and the quickness to go out and defend on the perimeter. Lawhorn's strong play is a big reason why three-time defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Germantown is 24-0 heading into sectional play.

Majok Madut, Oshkosh North -- The length, size and lateral movement of Madut on the top of the Spartans' 1-3-1 zone defense created fits for opponents in the Fox Valley Association all winter. He moves very well and is also an improved offensive player as he averaged 6.1 ppg for coach Frank Schade and the Spartans as a senior.
