Last week we celebrated three years on the Sport Ngin platform, a robust website software powered by WSN parent company Sport Ngin. We are happy to unveil a fresh redesign of WisSports.net that brings a number of visual improvements and enhancements to functionality for the hundreds of thousands of readers of WSN.
One significant advancement is the launch of a fully responsive site, which will automatically detect your screen and device type, and format the page accordingly. This means WSN will look even better on mobile devices, which account for about 50% of site traffic.
"An improved mobile viewing experience is something our readers have asked for frequently, and has been one of our goals for some time," said WSN General Manager Travis Wilson. "The design team we worked with from our Sport Ngin office knocked it out of the park, just as they have thousands of other sites across the country. This new design and user experience are big steps forward for WisSports.net."
WSN staff worked closely with the Sport Ngin design team to lay out the vision for the new look while keeping the customer front and center.
"We viewed WSN’s redesign as an opportunity to improve the site’s performance on a wide array of devices and to create a layout that would put the focus on the content and engagement," said Sport Ngin project manager Greta Seifert. "A more modern, flat design, larger typography and generous use of white space combine for improved usability.
"We created a dedicated media section on the home page to spotlight WSN’s audio and video offerings and our 'WSN Connect' buttons make it easier for fans to share the latest and most exciting stories in Wisconsin high school sports."
Kyle Strash was the Lead Graphic Designer on the project, while Scott Ray served as the Lead Front End Designer. Many others were involved in the planning and execution as well.
