WisSports.net Week 1 Team of the Week Nominees:

Arrowhead - Homestead vs. Arrowhead. It's a matchup we saw in three straight Division 1 title games from 2006 to 2008, and it was among the most anticipated games of the season the past couple years. Homestead had Arrowhead's number the last two years, but the Warhawks got a measure of revenge in 2015. Quarterback Johnny Duranso scored a first quarter rushing touchdown and Arrowhead never trailed en route to an impressive 28-14 victory. Arrowhead looks to be a strong contender to get back to the D1 title game for a fourth straight season.

Bloomer - The Blackhawks have faced off against Somerset in an early season non-conference game for a number of years, in addition to several postseason match-ups. Somerset was coming off a Division 4 state title last year, but Bloomer handed them their first loss of 2015, scoring a late touchdown to take a 12-7 victory. Bloomer got on the board first in the game, but Somerset went up 7-6 early in the third quarter. A 1-yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Jacob Kostner with 3:38 left in the game put the Blackhawks on top to stay.

Milwaukee Bay View - October 21, 2012 -- that was the last on field victory for the Bay View program heading into 2015, a streak of 38 consecutive losses on the scoreboard. There were two games later overturned to victories via forfeit, but head coach Jeff Wallack and crew found no silver lining in that. The streak is over however, thanks to a 74-58 win over Eastbrook/HOPE Christian Friday night. In the game, Bay View had 718 yards of offense, which is third all-time in state history. They are also believed to be the first team ever with a 300- and 200-yard rusher in the same game: Giantae Brooks went for 326 yards and 6 touchdowns on 25 carries, while Isiah Wright had 229 yards and 4 scores on 27 carries.

Oshkosh North - After back-to-back VFA-South Conference titles, including a D2 runner-up finish in 2013, Oshkosh North had some considerable holes to fill due to graduation heading into 2015. Any questions about how the Spartans would compete in the league were answered quickly in a 35-32 overtime win in a non-conference crossover against traditional power Appleton North. Tyler Kujawa threw for 149 yards and a pair of scores, while Eliot Dittmer rushed 34 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns. It was Dittmer's 9-yard scoring plunge in overtime that sealed the deal.

Whitefish Bay - It was an emotional night for the Blue Dukes, who played their first game without longtime head coach Jim Tietjen, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. The team did him proud, pulling away from Brookfield Central in the second half for an impressive 35-14 victory. Macklin Kortebein was a beast, rushing 33 times for 230 yards with 4 touchdowns, scoring the team's other touchdown as well on an 11-yard catch. After the game, Tietjen met with the team from the seat of his pickup truck in a touching moment.
