Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Division 1

Mukwonago is the top-ranked team in the opening WisSports.net Coaches Poll of the season. The Indians open the season with a 3-0 record, but did lose Iowa recruit Bre Cera to a broken hand on Friday. They topped De Pere 44-41 on Saturday at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout, their first game without her. Middleton rolled past Verona, 83-60, last Tuesday and are ranked No. 2 in the poll. Bay Port earned a 58-39 win over Beaver Dam at the Brookfield Thanksgiving Shootout and are #3 in the opening coaches poll. 

Division 2

Waukesha West dropped down to Division 2 this season and are the top-ranked team in the Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll. The Wolverines defeated New Berlin West, 58-49,last Tuesday and rolled past Seymour (64-36) at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout on Friday. Defending Division 2 state champ Pius XI Catholic come in at No. 2, the Lady Popes extended their winning streak to 30 games with a 69-46 win over Milwaukee King at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout. Pulaski defeated the defending Division 1 state champ, DSHA, at Brookfield Central and check in at No. 4. Beaver Dam is the 6th ranked team in Division 2, they topped New Berlin Eisenhower on Tuesday, 68-61. 

Division 3

Madison Edgewood dropped down to Division 3 this season and receive the number 1 ranking in the first WisSports.net Coaches Poll. The Crusaders defeated Kettle Moraine 66-44 at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout. Second-ranked Xavier defeated Pewaukee, 61-60, at the buzzer at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout. Rounding out the top five in Division 3 are Hayward, Whitewater and Marshall. 

Division 4

Algoma is the top-ranked team in Division 4. The Wolves are 4-0 so far this season, with their most recent win coming against Valders by a score of 53-49 on Saturday. They face a tough test tonight when they travel to De Pere. Marathon is No. 2 in the D4  Coaches Poll, they are 1-1 with their loss coming against Marshfield, a Division 1 school, 56-53. Regis is #3 in the poll, their first game is at McDonell Central on Thursday. Defending Division 4 state champ Cuba City extended the state's longest active winning streak to 50 games last week and check in at No. 4 in the first Coaches Poll. 

Division 5

Assumption grabs the top-spot in Division 5 WisSports.net Coaches Poll. The Royals lost their first game of the season against Neillsville, but rebounded with a 54-53 win over Loyal on Saturday. Defending D5 state champion Barneveld is No. 2, the Golden Eagles host D4 #6 Mineral Point tonight. Rounding out the top five are Fall River, Loyal and Sheboygan Christian.
