2014-15 Recap:

Superior went 9-14 overall last season, while Ashland finished with a 14-10 record.

Predicted Order of Finish:

1) Superior

Players to Watch:

Alison Huber, sr., Ashland (5’6” Guard) – Huber was selected Second Team All-Lake Superior after scoring 9 points per game as a junior.

Makenzie Kmecik, sr., Superior (5’7” Guard) – Kmecik was named Honorable Mention All-Lake Superior as a junior after averaging 11.1 points per game for the Spartans.

Ellie Leadstrom, jr., Superior (5’9” Guard) – Leadstrom will move into a larger role after scoring 5 points per game as a sophomore.

2015-16 Team Previews:

1) Superior went 9-14 overall in 2014-15. Coach Phillip Roe told WSN that hey will be young with be young with only two returning starters. “Some weaknesses will be lack or height and and experience but strengths will include speed, heart, and intelligence,” said coach Roe. Senior Makenzie Kmecik is their top returner, averaging 11 points per game as a junior. She was a key player on their 2013-14 Division 1 state runner-up team. Also returning to their starting five is junior Ellie Leadstrom who averaged 5 points per game for the Spartans last season. Other key returners are juniors Natalie Olson and Morgan Nordby.

2) Ashland posted a 14-10 overall record last season. The Oredockers will need to replace three of their top five scorers form their 2014-15 squad. Top returners are seniors Alison Huber (9 PPG) and Allison Tollas (3 PPG). Also returning as a contributor is senior Molly Kovala who will take on a larger role this season.
