Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire Memorial entered Thursday's boys basketball game tied atop the Big Rivers Conference standings, and it came down to the final moments to decide who would control the league race in the final weeks.
After Memorial's Isaac Appleby hit a jumper to put his team up by 1 with just over 8 seconds left, Chippewa Falls called timeout. The ball went to senior Aaron Knez, who weaved his way upcourt and put up an off-balance runner in the lane that banked in to give the Cardinals a 38-37 victory and outright lead in the Big Rivers.
