MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Erin O’Toole was selected the Player of the Year to lead the individuals chosen to the 2016 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Basketball Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-River Falls’ Cindy Holbrook was chosen the Coach of the Year.

O’Toole is the seventh player in program history to receive the honor. She tops the conference with 18.2 points per game, while ranking second with a .482 field goal percentage and third with 8.0 points per contest and 47 blocked shots.

O’Toole reached double-figures in scoring in 20 of 24 games, including three 30-plus point performances and a season-high 35 points at UW-Stout on Jan. 13. She is tied for the league lead with six double-doubles (points-rebounds). O’Toole established conference season-highs with 21 free-throw attempts against UW-Whitewater on Jan. 23, and 16 field goals made against UW-Platteville on Jan. 20. She was also selected to the five-member All-Defensive Team.

Repeat selections on the first team from a season ago included:  UW-Eau Claire’s Teenie Lichtfuss; UW-Oshkosh’s Taylor Schmidt; UW-River Falls’ Brynn Liljander; and UW-Stevens Point’s Lauren Anklam.  Lichtfuss was also a first team selection in 2014.

Holbrook directed the Falcons to their third WIAC regular-season title – and first since 1989 - and a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship. UW-River Falls’ 22 wins this season are the most since the 1988-89 campaign. Holbrook also won the coaching honor in 2001.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.
