Barneveld's Hannah Whitish selected as top senior Point Guard

Barneveld's Hannah Whitish has been selected as the top senior Point Guard as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards

Whitish is a dynamic guard that is hit the three, take her player off the dribble, and is a very good passer that has good court vision. 

The Nebraska recruit is averaging 24.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4 assists per game for coach Doug Pickarts and the Golden Eagles. 

She has scored over 2,000 points in her career and is shooting 59 percent from the floor, 83 percent on free throws, and has made 79 three-pointers this season. 

Hannah has scored at least 25 points in 10 games this season, including a career-high 36 points points in a win over Pecatonica in the opening round of the playoffs. 

She is Barneveld's all-time leader in points (2,008), steals (451), assists (451) and three-pointers (255). 

Hannah is a three-time WBCA All-State choice entering this season, this year's all-state team will be announced on Friday morning. 

Whitish has helped the Golden Eagles to a 109-3 record in her career, including back-to-back Division 5 state titles and a runner-up finish as a freshman. 

Finalists for the award were Whitish, Caitlyn Hibner of Portage, Alona Johnson of Milwaukee Riverside, Meghan Pingel of Lakeside Lutheran, and Sammie Woodward of The Prairie School.

Past winners of the award include Gabby Green of Pius XI (2015), Gabrielle Ortiz of The Prairie School (2014), Taylor Schmidt of Algoma (2013), and Nicole Bauman of New Berlin Eisenhower (2012).
