Girls WBCA All-Star Games: North goes 3-2

The 39th Annual Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games were held in Wisconsin Dells on Friday, June 17th at the JustAgame Fieldhouse. 

North won three of the five girls WBCA All-Star games. 

Division 1: North 73, South 55 

North led 24-13 after the first quarter and went on to defeat the South 73-55 at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Neenah's Nicole Marquardt, a Cardinal Stritch recruit, led the North with 12 points and added 9 rebounds. Appleton West's Sarah Wiseman and Verona's Grace Mueller, a Wisconsin recruit, each tallied 11 points; while Verona's Kira Opsal, a Winona State recruit, netted 10 points for the North. Oak Creek's Hailey Erdman, a Lindenwood-Belleville recruit, finished with a game-high 15 points for the South, including 4 three-pointers, while Sussex Hamilton's Taylor Klug, a Minnesota State recruit, scored 12 points. 

Division 2: South 80, North 73

South led 37-32 at the break and survived a late push from the North to win the D2 WBCA All-Star Game 80-73. Portage's Caitlyn Hibner, a UW-Green Bay recruit scored a game-high 19 points, including going 13-for-13 from the free throw line to lead the South to the victory. Four others scored in double-figures for the South: New Berlin Eisenhower's Chelsea Brackmann, a Bradley recruit, scored 14; Stoughton's Hannah Hobson, a Michigan Tech recruit, and Catholic Memorial's Dena Dryer, a UW-Whitewater recruit, each tallied 11 points, while New Berlin West's Claire Radtke, a Lake Superior State recruit, chipped in 10 points. River Falls' Karly Murphy, a UW-Green Bay recruit, scored a team-high 14 points for the North.  

Division 3: South 78, North 72

The South squad made 15 three-pointers in their 78-72 victory against the North in the D3 WBCA All-Star Game at the JAG. Six players scored in double-figures for the South, led by Marshall's Kiana Cannon's 14 points, the Gannon University recruit made three of her six three-point attempts. Prairie du Chien's Brooke Trautch, a Grandview University recruit, and Berlin's Julia Silloway, a Winona State recruit, each connected on four triples and scored 12 points apiece. The North was led by Altoona's KaSandra Springer's 17 points. 

Division 4: North 81, South 54

North used a balanced scoring attack to cruise to a 81-54 win over the South in the D4 WBCA All-Star Game. Algoma's Baleigh Delorit, a Northern Michigan recruit, scored a game-high 17 points for the North. Edgar's Tianna Borchardt, a UW-Oshkosh recruit, also reached double-digits, netting 11 points. Wisconsin Heights' Macenzie Kraemer, a Loras College recruit, scored a team-high 16 points for the South, including making four her six three-point attempts. 

Division 5: North 62, South 42

The North squad jumped out to a 23-8 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 62-42 victory against the South in the D5 WBCA All-Star Game at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Assumption's Gena Grundhoffer, a Lehigh recruit, scored a game-high 19 points and added 8 rebounds for the North in the victory. Three others scored in double-digits: fellow Assumption graduate Macie Zurfluh, a St. Norbert College recruit, scored 11 points, while Turtle Lakes' Taylor Schneider, a Minnesota Duluth recruit, and Augusta's Cathy Renneke each tallied 10 points. Potosi's Maddie Hawes, a Madison College recruit, led the South with 10 points.
