Looking Back

It was a hugely significant week in 8-Man Football, with a couple teams suffering their first defeats of the season. Most notably, Prairie Farm suffered its first loss since the 2013 Jamboree, falling to Siren 22-16. It ended a 24-game winning for Prairie Farm and is just the second loss the team has suffered since joining 8-Man Football. It was a nice bounce-back victory for Siren, who had gone down to Northwood/Solon Springs the week before. Brady Mangen ran for 123 yards and a touchdown, while Dolon Highstrom threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Also of note, Wisconsin Heights suffered its first loss of the year, getting shutout by Oakfield 34-0, as DuWayne Balthazor IV had 194 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns and Jason Culver recorded 14 tackles with 3.5 sacks.

Looking Ahead

It is another big week of games in 8-Man Football, including a tough test for Green Bay NEW Lutheran, winners of four straight, as the Blazers travel to Ontonagon, a solid team from the U.P. Wisconsin Heights looks to rebound against a Valley Christian team that put up some big offensive numbers early in the season but has struggled the last couple games.

There's a huge one in the Lakeland-8, where undefeated Northwood/Solon Springs will welcome in Luck, who has looked dominant once again after dropping games the first two weeks of the season.

Top-ranked Abundant Life will get perhaps its toughest test to date as the Crusaders will travel across the border to take on North Shore Country Day in Illinois. North Shore has looked very impressive against Wisconsin schools so far this year and is undefeated in the Great 8-South.

Star of the Week: Jase Kuffel, Northwood/Solon Springs

In a 42-22 win over the Minnesota School for the Deaf, Northwood/Solon Springs racked up 438 rushing yards, with more than 550 yards of total offense. Senior Jase Kuffel led the way, rushing 13 times for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns for the co-op program. He also recorded 4 tackles on defense as the team remained unbeaten.
