Catholic Memorial saw it's undefeated season on the brink when Wisconsin Lutheran took a 27-13 lead with just over five minutes remaining in a Division 3, Level 2 contest Friday night. But the Crusaders showed championship mettle, as Ben Nimz twice found Max Cooper for long touchdown passes to pull even at 27 with 1:18 remaining.
That set the stage for big-time heroics, as Catholic Memorial lined up for a 51-yard field goal with just one second left on the clock. Eric Fridl nailed it dead center through the uprights with room to spare to send the Crusaders to a 30-27 victory.
