2016-17 Team Previews:

1) Superior returns four starters from last year's team that finished with a 8-15 overall record last season. The Spartans will need to fill the void left with the graduation of leading scorer Mackenzie Kmecik (18.7 PPG). "This year we bring back a lot of experience with nine varsity letter winners and look to contend in for the Lake Superior Conference title," coach Philip Roe told WSN. He went on to say that they have a good mix of seniors and young talent which will surprise some teams this year. Ellie Leadstrom leads the way for the Spartans after averaging just under 10 points per game as a junior while fellow senior Hannah Kolanczyk returns as a key player. Other key returners include Madison Myer (Soph., 4.6 PPG), Chloe Kintop (Soph., 3.3 PPG) and Kennedy Grimstad (Sr., 3.3 PPG). Superior opens Lake Superior play at Ashland on November 22.

2) Ashland will need to replace three of their top four scorers from last year's squad that went 5-15 overall. The Oredockers top returners are senior Lexi St. Germain and junior Cassie Perry. Ashland opens the season with a home game against Northwestern on November 17.
