The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association has announced its All-State, Player of the Year, and Assistant Coach of the Year Awards for 2016. The WFCA Coach of the Year honor will be announced after the playoffs.

Darlington running back Hunter Johnson was named the Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Redbirds to a fourth straight Division 6 state title game. Johnson has posted incredible production in limited time due to a season full of blowouts. On just 155 carries in 13 games, he has 2,076 yards (13.4 yards per carry) with 40 touchdowns, finding the end zone on one-third of his attempts. He's also scored touchdowns via reception, interception return, and kick return this year. Johnson has only seen action in the second half in a couple games this year.

Bay Port linebacker Matt Lorbeck was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. In a very competitive FRCC, Lorbeck was voted the league's Defensive Player of the Year after the Pirates went undefeated until Level 3 of the playoffs. In 11 games, he recorded 112 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks for head coach Gary Westerman. "He pursues the football as hard as any player I have coached," Westerman said. "He's a very explosive athlete, holding the school record in the squat and power clean."

Scott Wotruba of Cambria-Friesland and Mike Lecher of Pewaukee were selected as the Co-Assistant Coach of the Year.

Caiden Haake of Pepin/Alma (FB/TE and DE), Michael Singer of Amherst (OL/DL), and Matt Henningsen of Menomonee Falls (OL/DL) were the lone two-way First Team All-State selections.

Haake, Johnson, Jaylen Campbell of Catholic Memorial (OLB), Sam Santiago-Lloyd of Brookfield East (RB), Tyler Mais of Waunakee (DB), Isaac Benner of Chippewa Falls (OL), Logan Bruss of Kimberly (OL), Ben Nienhuis of Oconomowoc (QB), and Zach Clayton of Oconomowoc (WR) are returning First Team All-State selections, along with 8-Man player Obi Iwuagwu of Abundant Life/Saint Ambrose.
