Cooks picks Michigan State

Kenosha St. Joseph senior Sidney Cooks, top-ranked player in the class of 2017 by WisSports.net, has committed to Michigan State. 

Sidney, 6-foot-4, is long and athletic forward that can score with off the dribble, from the perimeter and with her back to the basket. She is also strong on defense, using her length to block and deflect passes.  

She led the Lancers a Division 4 state runner-up finish as a junior; averaging 23.1 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.7 blocks per game for coach Lynell Collins and the Lancers. 

Cooks scored 20 or more points in 22 of their 28 games last season; including 30 points in their loss to Mineral Point in the D4 state championship game. 

She also tallied 22 double-double and one triple-double for the Lancers as a junior. 

Cooks enters her senior year with 1,219 points, 763 rebounds, and 281 blocks in her career. 

She had numerous Division I offer and her final five also consisted of Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan, and UCLA. 

Kenosha St. Joseph is picked to win the Metro Classic by WisSports.net and ranked No. 5 in the Preseason Top 10 in Division 4. 

Michigan State, coach by Suzy Merchant, went 25-9 overall and 13-4 in the Big Ten last season.
