Not counting an interception of River Valley on the final play of the game, Saint Croix Central scored touchdowns on seven of its nine possessions in a dominating performance to claim the Division 4 state title, 49-28.

All of Saint Croix Central's offensive dominance came on the ground, as the Panthers' lone pass attempt of the game was incomplete, but they amassed 371 rushing yards on 70 attempts.

The majority of the damage came from Ryan Larson (41 carries, 157 yards, 4 TD) and Cole Refsnider (15, 153, 2 TD), as the duo hammered away behind a big, physical offensive line that consistently moved the line of scrimmage forward.

Thanks to lengthy drives in the first half, Saint Croix Central scored on all three of its possessions before the break, including an opening 15-play, 78-yard touchdown drive and a 17-play, 66-yard drive to close the half.

River Valley finally got going in the third quarter, sandwiching a pair of touchdowns around another from Saint Croix Central, but the Panthers put to rest any hopes for a miraculous comeback by scoring two touchdowns in less than a minute early in the fourth.

It is the second state title for Saint Croix Central, as the Panthers also claimed the Division 5 crown in 1988.
