Week 1 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll

Division 1

Stevens Point saw its 41-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, falling to Bay Port, and it also knocked the Panthers out of the top spot in the Division 1 Coaches Poll for the first time since the final rankings of the 2014-15 season. Oshkosh North is now the #1 team, followed by Madison Memorial, Milwaukee Vincent, Stevens Point, and Kimberly. Bay Port, who is 2-1 on the year, enters the rankings at #9. 

Division 2

The top four of the Coaches Poll are unchanged, as Kaukauna, La Crosse Central, Waunakee, and Cedarburg are a good ways ahead of anyone else in the D2 rankings. Stoughton moves up to the 5th spot vacated by Pius XI Catholic, who fell to Greenfield last week. Little Ten members Beaver Dam (#7) and Wisconsin (#10) are unbeaten and new to this week's poll.

Division 3

Waupun was shocked in an East Central game last week, falling to Campbellsport, and it drops the defending champion Warriors out of the top spot in the rankings. It was close, with three different teams getting at least one top vote, but Ripon is the #1 team this week, followed by Lake Mills, Waupun, Xavier, and Prescott.

Division 4

Destiny remains the top-ranked team in Division 4, which saw a good amount of movement from last week. A number of ranked teams suffered losses, including #5 Howards Grove, who drops to 8th this week. Newcomers to the poll this week are Markesan, who went 2-1 against a challenging schedule, losing to #4 Laconia in a tight one, and undefeated Melrose-Mindoro.

Division 5

It was neck and neck for the #1 position in the D5 rankings, but Six Rivers-East team Barneveld held on to the top spot ahead of Six Rivers-West squad Shullsburg. The top six remain unchanged from last week. De Soto and Sheboygan Christian drop out of the rankings after losing last week, with unbeatens Almond-Bancroft (#8) and Alma/Pepin (#10) coming in to the poll.
