Warnock becomes second player from class of 2019 to reach 1,000 career points; others reach milestone

Monona Grove sophomore McKenna Warnock became the second player from the class of 2019 to surpass 1,000 career points when she tallied 32 points in a 69-57 loss to DeForest in a D2 regional semi-final. McKenna averaged 26.7 points per game, third most in the state, and scored 30 or more points in 10 games. McKenna tallied a career-high 44 points in a 69-66 win over Sauk Prairie in a D2 regional quarterfinal.  Warnock holds numerous Division I offers, including all four in-state DI's. 

Brodhead junior Erin Nyhus recorded her 1,000th career point in a 41-23 win against Parkview on February 16; she finished with 18 points. Nyhus ended her junior year averaging 16.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Cardinals (11-13).

Cudahy senior Bailey Eichner joined the 1,000 point club in a 68-32 win against Lake Country Lutheran on February 16; she finished with 18 points. The William & Mary recruit is averaging 12.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for the Packers. Cudahy (17-7) plays New Berlin Eisenhower in a D2 sectional semi-final on Thursday at Greenfield. 

River Valley senior Taylor Briehl surpassed 1,000 career point in a 47-38 win over Prairie du Chien on February 17; she finished with 15 points. Briehl averaged 15.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for the Blackhawks (9-15). 

Racine Horlick senior Kayla DeRosia went over 1,000 career points in a 66-59 victory against Racine Park on February 17; she finished with 17 points. The UW-Whitewater recruit averaged 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Rebels (13-10). 

Martin Luther senior Emily Hafemann joined the 1,000 point club in a 56-25 win over Racine St. Catherine's in a D3 regional quarterfinal; she finished with 21 points. Hafemann is averaging 12.2 points and 2.2 assists per game for the Spartans (23-0) who play Brookfield Academy in a D3 sectional semi-final on Thursday at New Berlin Eisenhower. 

Pewaukee senior MacKenzie Schill went over 1,000 career points in a 58-53 loss to New Berlin Eisenhower in a Division 2 regional final. She finished with 22 points in the game and ended her career with 1,006 points. As a senior, MacKenzie averaged 18.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 4.2 steals per game for the Pirates (20-4). 

Dominican junior Jazmine Young surpassed 1,000 career points in a 57-54 loss to Brookfield Academy in a D3 regional final on Saturday; she finished with 21 points. Young, a Division I prospect, averaged 20.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.4 steals per game for the Knights (16-8) this season. 

Shullsburg junior Brianna Leahy recored her 1,000th career point in a D5 regional final victory against Benton, 55-40; she finished with 30 points. Leahy is averaging 18.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game for the Miners (21-3) who play Riverdale in a D5 sectional semi-final on Thursday at Mineral Point. 

Waupun senior Danielle Hopp reached 1,000 career point in the Warriors 53-42 win over Lomira in a D3 regional final; she finished with 9 points. The Ripon College recruit is averaging 12 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game for Waupun (19-5) who face Columbus in a D3 sectional semi-final on Thursday at Beaver Dam. 

Green Bay NEW Lutheran senior Morgan Meerstein scored her 1,000th career point in Monday's win over Wausaukee, 60-52, in a Division 5 regional final. Meerstein scored 19 points in the win and is averaging 14.6 points per game for the Blazers (14-10) who play Elcho in a sectional semi-final on Thursday at Pulaski.
