The 7th annual Wisconsin Varsity Invitational sponsored by Wisconsin Impact was held last weekend in Waukesha.
The event featured 72 teams from across the state that were split into three divisions: Large School (D1), Medium School (D2), and Small School (D3-D5).
Oak Creek went 6-0 at the invite to claim the Large School title. On Sunday in bracket play, the Knights posted wins over De Pere (41-25), Arrowhead (54-30), and Homestead (46-38) in the championship game.
Homestead finished with a 5-1 record; on Sunday, they defeated Kimberly (51-47) and Mukwonago (48-45) before falling to Oak Creek in the title game.
Note: Homestead's Chloe Marotta, a 2018 Marquette recruit, suffered a knee injury against Oak Creek.
Beaver Dam went 6-0 at the Wisconsin Varsity Invite. On Sunday, the Golden Beavers picked up wins over Waunakee (62-38), New Berlin Eisenhower (51-30), and Seymour (62-31) in the championship game.
Seymour finished with a 5-1 record at the invite; on Sunday, they posted wins over Notre Dame (39-27) and Slinger (34-28) before falling to Beaver Dam in the title game.
Freedom finished with a 6-0 record at the invite to claim the Small School title. On Sunday, the Irish defeated Black Hawk (39-35), Valders (37-32), and Wrightstown (46-38) in the championship game.
Wrightstown went 5-1 over the two days; on Sunday, they defeated Hayward (48-46 in OT) and Melrose-Mindoro (59-51) before falling to Freedom in the title game.
