Gretchen Bruhn of Brookfield East girls' volleyball has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of August 21 through 27 after a vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 3,692 votes this week; Bruhn received 1,185 votes, while Jaden Stevenson of Sturgeon Bay boys' soccer finished second with 1,140 votes. 

Bruhn led the Spartans to the St. Thomas More/Homestead Joust at Homestead. Gretchen tallied a team-high 46 kills and a .239 hitting percentage in the event. Brookfield East defeated Menomonee Falls in the championship match. 

Brookfield East earned the top ranking in the WVCA Coaches Poll after the first week of the season.
