WIAC Athletes of the Week
(Week of Sept. 11-17)

FOOTBALL
Offense
Mark Johnson, Junior (Johnston, Iowa), Wide Receiver of UW-Platteville
Johnson finished with nine catches for 155 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-22 win over Lakeland University (Wis.) on Sept. 23. All three of Johnson’s touchdowns and 132 of his receiving yards came in the first half giving the Pioneers a 35-14 halftime lead. His 30-yard touchdown reception was a full extension catch. His other two scores came on 14- and 42-yard receptions.

Defense
Brandon McKandes, Senior (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Defensive Line of UW-La Crosse
McKandes had five tackles, including 2.0 for loss and 1.0 quarterback sack, in UW-La Crosse's 41-6 win over Carroll University (Wis.) on Sept. 23. He helped lead the Eagles' defense to hold the Pioneers to six points, 13 first downs and 189 yards of total offense.

Special Teams
Ryan Kruser, Senior (Waunakee, Wis.), Wide Receiver of UW-La Crosse
Kruser had six punt returns for 88 yards (14.7 average), including a 58-yard touchdown in UW-La Crosse's 41-6 win over Carroll University (Wis.) on Sept. 23. It marked his second career punt return for a touchdown after a 76-yard return against Ripon College (Wis.) a year ago. Kruser also had one kickoff return for 36 yards versus Carroll, setting up the Eagles’ touchdown on the first possession of the second half for a 31-0 lead. Kruser was UW-La Crosse's top receiver with six catches for 65 yards.
