Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of January 8 through 14. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: January 8-14

John Diener, Cedarburg boys basketball: Diener went over 2,000 career points and scored the game-winning basket in the Bulldogs' 57-55 win over Nicolet. in Tuesday's 61-51 win over Whitefish Bay, Diener tallied 28 points and went 13-for-18 from the free throw line. The senior and De Paul recruit is averaging 26 points per game for D2 No. 5 Cedarburg, 11-1 overall and 9-0 in the North Shore. 

Ariel Kirkwood, Milwaukee Vincent girls basketball: Kirkwood (6-0) scored a team-high 21 points in the Vikings' upset win over D1 No. 1 Milwaukee King, 78-69 in overtime, on Thursday at the Milwaukee City Review held at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. On Monday, Kirkwood tallied 16 points in Milwaukee Vincent's 69-53 win over Milwaukee Riverside. Kirkwood, a junior, is averaging 15.3 points for the undefeated Vikings (13-0, 4-0), who are ranked No. 4 in the latest WisSports.net Coaches Poll in Division 2. 

Jordan McCabe, Kaukauna boys basketball: McCabe scored 41 points and led Kaukauna (D2 No. 1) to a 94-89 win over previously unbeaten and D1 No. 1 Oshkosh North on Tuesday. He went over 2,000 career points in the Galloping Ghosts' win over Fond du Lac, 83-70, tallying 28 points in the game. The senior and West Virginia recruit is averaging 27.1 points per game for Kaukauna, 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the FVA. 

Brooke Olson, Rice Lake girls basketball: Olson had a big week for the Warriors, scoring 30 points twice and setting a new career high. On Friday, she scored a career-high 36 points, and added 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks in a 59-56 win over Menomonie. On Tuesday, Olson finished with 34 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and a block in a 77-61 win over Northwestern. She also tallied 19 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and a block in the Warriors' victory against Altoona, 66-51, on Saturday. The 6-foot-2 senior and Minnesota Duluth recruit is averaging 22.3 points, 12 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game for Rice Lake, 11-2 overall and 4-2 in the Big Rivers. 

Alex Schmidt, Mercer boys basketball: Schmidt scored a career-high 51 points (5th most in the state this season) in the Tigers' 82-71 win over White Lake on Saturday. He netted 26 points in a loss to Hurley, 73-48, on Monday. Schmidt, a junior, is averaging 27.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 4.8 steals per game for Mercer, 4-8 overall and 0-7 in the Indianhead.
